I've been a proponent of the Super Speed training system after learning of them on the 18 Strong podcast and meeting the Super Speed crew at the PGA show in 2016. Being a little late to the dance and using a busy schedule as an excuse, I didn't take the opportunity to try the clubs myself. That changed approximately 8-9 weeks ago. Working with my daughter's teaching pro, I obtained before and after measures on his launch monitor. The results were encouraging given my lack of practice, repetitions, etc for this great game. In 6 weeks, my driver average increased from 89.9 mph to 94.6 mph. Ball speed had increased 4 mph. Carry distance and total distance both increased 8 yards. Overall, these are encouraging results and motivation to continue using the speed sticks. I've continued to work with the clubs and have seen club head speeds ranging from 99-101 mph. I'm liking where this is going and am looking forward to seeing this translate on the course (when I get to play!!).
My newest endeavor is getting my 16 year old training with the speed sticks. Thanks to the swing speed radar, she is finally juiced to give the sticks a good run. Her driver speed improved from 86 mph to 90 mph in one day (prior to following the introductory protocol). I must say her effort really went through the roof when she obtained a 110 mph swing with the light club- to say she was gassed was an understatement. More important, she had a blast. Picking up the radar was definitely a smart move as it made the process more fun and stoked her competitive spirit. Stay tuned as we'll see where she is in 6 weeks.
In conclusion, my little experiment cemented what I've heard with this system and have seen personally. I look forward to spreading the word on Super Speed in my neck of the woods!
I'd like to thank Todd Evans, PGA for his help in collecting data and supporting my project. His expertise helped immensly in pulling off this self study.
